Practical shoes and jacket
A staple in any festival goers wardrobe – a pair of rubber boots! You never know what the weather is going to be like and you can style the functional boot in a surprising amount of ways. You can choose a tall pair or opt for ankle boots if that’s more your style.
If you’re a daredevil and don’t necessarily care about getting wet feet, you can instead pack a pair of sandals. In order to still be practical, we’d recommend going for a pair of dad sandals with a chunky sole. This way you’re not too close to the ground still and you’ll be comfortable enough to be walking and dancing around all day.
Raincoat – you can’t go to a festival without one. The rationale is the same as with the rubber boots. You’ll be sad if you didn’t bring it and suddenly it’s chugging it down and you can’t focus on your favorite artist. These days you can get your hands on some really nice and chic raincoats, so you don’t have to look like a preschooler.
Another very classic jacket you often see at festivals is the jean jacket. Think Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks! The jean jacket comes in many different variations, so you can find the one for you. You can go for oversize, slim fit, cropped, baggy, you name it. The same goes for color! You can choose a traditional blue jacket, you can go for white or black or you can choose a colorful one.
The basics
When going to a festival, you want to cover the basics as well. You need to be practical when packing and these items can be styled in so many different ways.
Let’s start out with a classic t-shirt. If you’re lucky enough to find a t-shirt with a great fit – stock up! White and black t-shirts are the best for layering and a great base for any look. Opt for colorful t-shirts if that’s more your style. Long-sleeved t-shirts are also a great basic and worth taking to a festival if the summer sun isn’t quite as warm as you’d anticipated.
Jeans are the go-to for everyday wear for a lot of women and a festival is no excuse. They’re durable, they’re cool and they can be styled in a plethora of ways. If the weather is amazing you can also choose shorts! You can go for mini short or knee-length depending on your style.
Add some fun
Now that we’ve covered the practical pieces as well as the basics, it’s time we get to the fun stuff. This is where you can really show your personality!
A great addition to an outfit that doesn’t compromise comfort or practicality? Belts! Statement belts in fun colors, materials or with novelty buckles are a great way to add some flair to an otherwise low-key outfit. Think a big gold buckle or frills with a pair of shorts and a jean jacket or a pop of color with a low-key t-shirt.
An unconventional accessory – a brooch. If the weather isn’t as great as you’d hoped and you need to wear a jacket, a brooch is a fun way to accessorize. Brooches are no longer just for old women, instead young women wear them in new fun ways in order to express themselves even when wearing outerwear.
Another way to spice an outfit up is jewelry. You can add a pair of statement earrings to a nice updo or braid or you can stack bracelets. The limit does not exist when it comes to accessorizing! If you want a different kind of accessories, you can also incorporate silk scarves or hair accessories like fun elastics or hair bands into your look. This is a simple way to infuse color into a look.
